Awaken All Your Senses at Phizantekraal Wines

by Natalie Roos on 08.07.2016

Did you know that just 20 minutes from Cape Town, tucked within the Tygerberg Hills, set within the beautiful Durbanville Wine Valley, lies a hidden gem called Phizantekraal Wines.

With four generations of wine farming weaved into the Brink family’s story, they took their dream of launching a flagship family brand and in 2005, launched Phizante Kraal Wine. While working with ethical and responsibile techniques, the Brinks have taken Phizantekraal whites and reds to an award-winning standard.

At the tastefully decorated tasting venue, you can sample the farm’s Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and delicious Anna de Koning Wooded Chenin Blanc.

The room is decorated with an interactive sensory wall, where you can awaken your tasting senses by smelling all the different notes present in the wine in their physical representation; pineapple, cloves, vanilla, sezuan pepper...the list goes on.

When you’re ready for something to eat, the restaurant, set in a cowshed dating back to 1767 serves contemporary country style cuisine, in a casual setting. The seasonal menu is ever-changing, with farm fresh produce grown and harvested on site.

Think creamy, salty barley risotto, fresh and herby salads, freshly baked warm bread, homemade fish pate, pork belly and spicy breyani.
