Destinate launches new travel & style portfolio

Destinate is proud to announce the launch of our very own travel portfolio: Destinate Travel. Through the creation of conveniently packaged, unique travel experiences, we aim to cater to the conscious traveller who yearns for genuine connections with people and places. 

Our travel offerings reflect our values with a special focus on women, families, design, food and wine and the unearthing of unusual experiences for travellers who want to go beyond the ordinary.

We are especially proud to be working alongside a growing team of equally passionate travel partners many of whom we have worked with for many years on the strategic and marketing side of Destinate. Travel partners range from boutique hotels and wineries like Lanzerac Spa & Hotel, private nature reserves and safari lodges like Grootbos Private Nature Reserve and Jaci's Lodges to conservation champions like Marine Dynamics and Panthera Big Cat Sanctuary as well as unique experiential operators like Bites and Sites Food Tours, Coffeebeans Routes and Shimansky. Each partner is hand picked to align with Destinate Travel’s philosophy giving preference to independently owned and owner-run brands. 

“Destinate Travel is a collection of our favourite places, experiences and the people who are the heart and soul of the places we visit, put together after more than twenty years working in travel and tourism,” says Mariette du Toit-Helmbold, founder of Destinate and previous CEO of Cape Town Tourism for ten years. “We believe the timing is perfect. In many ways, Destinate Travel comes as a natural progression of the business we’ve been conducting since launching Destinate,” she added. 

We’ve spent five years working closely with a range of tourism boards, tour operators, wine farms, brands and destinations to help shape their businesses and introduce them to a wider market. This has, in turn, been invaluable in shaping our vision for Destinate Travel and creating experiences and packages that focus on connecting travellers to destinations through meaningful interactions, sharing of stories and supporting local makers.

To incorporate our passion for the latter, we also launched Destinate Style - a showcase of proudly African, ethical fashion, style and beauty brands that appeal specifically to travellers.

In this section, we will be curating some of our personal favourite apparel, skincare and accessory items, while actively scouting for new brands and makers to add to our portfolio. Within the next few months an online shop will be added to the portfolio giving independent designers and creatives the opportunity to reach an international audience.

Meeting local designers, artists, chefs, cooks or winemakers are some of the most memorables moments of travel. Through Destinate Style we are connecting the makers directly with our guests and online audiences, telling the stories of Africa and giving travellers the opportunity to purchase carefully curated local products and pieces,” says du Toit-Helmbold.
