South African Tourism has joined forces with the acclaimed wine tourism campaign, #Stellenblog, through its #ShotLeft campaign. Since the start of the campaign in 2014, #Stellenblog has quickly solidified itself as the most anticipated digital campaign in the winelands. It forms part of the acclaimed destination marketing campaign, Stellenbosch Experience, developed by Destinate, in partnership with Stellenbosch Wine Routes and Stellenbosch 360, in order to grow Stellenbosch’s market share of domestic and international visitors.

In keeping with the growing global demand for culinary and wine tourism, South Africa recently put the spotlight on wine tourism to attract a greater share of foodie, wine and lifestyle travelers. The wine and tourism sectors in the Cape winelands have come together, guided by a new wine tourism initiative, and made its debut at the 2017 ITB, Berlin earlier this month. ITB is the world’s largest tourism convention and was the perfect platform to put the spotlight on South Africa’s wine tourism experiences and reveal the hidden gems that lie tucked away in regions like the Klein Karoo, Swartland and Cape Whale Coast and where visitors can get a real taste of the local way of life.

It is no secret that Cape Town has some of the best markets and we are really spoilt for choice. On top of that you can attend wine festivals all over the Western Cape throughout the year. You can even attend a mini festival (or is it mega tasting), walking through the streets of Cape Town, once a month on a Thursday evening. I’ve attended quite a few festivals over the years throughout the province but Constantia Fresh stood out above the rest.
